The Ground Control Mine Technician is part of the Technical Services - Engineering team. The incumbent provides technical support for ground control and all other work related to rock mechanics. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for monitoring, techniccal drawings, data compilation and is part of the decision making process
Also, the incumbent offers technical support to the cementation and backfill teams. He/She is required to perform follow-ups, compile cementation data and develop working methods. He/She is responsible of the paste backfill plans and underground distribution network and he/she is involved in the implementation of this network.
  • Creation of various plans and specifications for ground control work, cementation and backfill
  • Update ground support planning, cementation and paste backfill
  • Regular monitoring of the underground ground controle work
  • Install and monitor measuring instruments
  • Compile information of geological structures
  • Perform quality tests of the various types of ground support installed
  • Follow up on water and cement interceptions during development
  • Ensure quality controle of the paste
  • Support the Operations teams (carry out task observations, provide training on cementing methods, draft memos, etc)
  • Participate in the conception of backfill distribution system and develop plans and specifications for the installation of the line based on the engineering criteria
  • Participate in the development of procedure related to the field control
  • Work in partnership with other department such as oprations, processes and surface services
  • Respect, know and promote company régulations and policies, particularly with regard to health and safety.
  • All other related tasks
  • College degree in Operations/Mineral Technology or university degree in Mining Engineering
  • Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in mineral technology,ideally in the underground mining sector
  • Valid general explosives license
  • Mining Modules (F.M.T.M.) completed
  • Good computer skills, including Promine, Autocad, Deswik, Vulcan, Leapfrog
  • Bilingualism is an asset
