CAREER OPPORTUNITY
The Borden project is located near Chapleau, Ontario, approximately 160 kilometers west of Timmins. The project has the potential to further enhance the long-term economics of PGM. A pre-feasibility study has been completed to determine the optimization of a combined Borden-Porcupine operation. An Advanced Exploration permit has been received in April 2017 and the construction of a ramp was initiated at the Borden mine site. This will allow for an extraction of a 30,000 ton bulk sample and provide an underground platform for exploration drilling of a deposit that still remains open at depth and laterally. 
 
Mine Technician
 
Borden Gold Project – Chapleau, ON
The Mine Technician will survey underground development and longhole stopes and survey mark up for underground diamond drilling and longhole drilling.  The position will perform weekly ventilation survey and assist with ground control inspections and audits as required.  The imcumbent will assist the planning team as required for development dirivng layouts, longhole drilling, and blasting layouts and monitors progress to ensure monthly forecast is achieved.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in safety by reviewing existing engineering designs and implementing new designs
  • Develop plans and designs for regulatory compliance and compliance to Company policies, procedures and standards
  • Promote and adhere to Company safety policies
  • Develop plans and designs that are safe, cost effective and provide for efficient ore extraction with available resources.
  • Optimize production and minimize dilution through mine designs and mine plans.
  • Produce longhole drilling and blasting layouts
  • Produce longhole monthend (Tonnes Broken, Tonnes drilled, drilled reserves)
  • Perform stope engineering reconciliation
  • Perform development and longhole stope surveys in a timely manner
  • Process data and issue drawings illustrating findings to those concerned
  • Maintain surveying equipment
  • Assist with month end reporting
  • Complete weekly vent surveys.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations in terms of monitoring and posting ventilation flows
Requirements:
  • Mine Technician or Mining Technologist Diploma from an accredited college or equivalent diploma in related discipline combined with related practical experience
  • First three underground common core modules are considered as asset
  • Two years combined underground engineering and surveying experience
  • Be technically competent and have a good understanding of underground mining methods commonly used at Porcupine Gold Mines
  • Able to learn new skills quickly
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to working in a safe manner
  • Motivated individual able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Deswik
