The successful candidate will have:
  • Minimum grade 12, technical diploma preferred
  • Hold a current mine rescue certificate
  • Specialty accreditation in areas of expertise
  • Firefighting accreditation
  • Valid Advanced First Aid certificate
  • Train the Trainer certificate
  • Mine rescue experience (competition team member an asset)
  • Surface emergency response experience (firefighter experience an asset)
  • Underground experience
  • Mill experience
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regs for Mines and Mining plants, WHMIS, and Confined Space Legislation
  • Ability to plan and schedule training for all of PGM sites related to emergency response
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft computer programs
  • Strong knowledge of mining, milling and open pit operations
  • Work well in a team atmosphere
  • Demonstrate strong problem solving skills
